Mita Project is driven by a powerful mission to transform the lives of smallholder farmers in West Africa, with a special focus on empowering women and youth in the most remote and underserved communities. We believe in the extraordinary potential of these farmers to break free from the cycle of extreme poverty, and we’re committed to equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to drive lasting change in their lives and their communities. We envision a future where every smallholder family has the knowledge, resources, and support to achieve bountiful harvests, raise healthy families, and thrive with dignity. Our work is not just about farming--it’s about building sustainable livelihoods, lifting families out of poverty, and fostering an environment where farmers are not just surviving, but flourishing.

Mita Project is a New York non-profit corporation that provides financing, training, and vital resources to help small-scale farmers fight hunger and poverty in West Africa. Through our work, we increase farmers’ access to high-quality agricultural inputs, offer tailored training to boost productivity, and connect them to verified buyers for fair pricing. We’re proud to have started in Côte d'Ivoire, where our pilot project in 2020 began with just 30 farmers. Today, we serve over 4,000 farmers, primarily in the central and northern regions-two of the country’s most vulnerable areas. By 2030, we plan to expand into neighboring countries-Burkina Faso, Mali, Guinea, and Liberia-and reach over 1 million farmers, creating a ripple effect of transformation across the region.
