Animal-Angels Foundation

Animal-Angels Foundation keeps families together by changing the reasons pets end up in shelters. We work upstream to solve the problems that put pets at risk before surrender becomes the only option. Through direct services, community partnerships, and shared technology infrastructure, we give families the support they need to keep their pets at home, and we give the organizations serving them the tools to work together instead of in isolation.

Animal-Angels Foundation is a prevention-first animal welfare nonprofit serving seven counties in Central Alabama: Jefferson, Shelby, Blount, St. Clair, Walker, Bibb, and Chilton. We are not a rescue organization. We are prevention infrastructure.

Most pet surrender begins before the shelter. Families are often out of options, not out of love. AAF works upstream to solve the problems that put pets at risk before surrender becomes the only option. Our six core programs (SNIP spay/neuter assistance, The Bridge crisis stabilization, Foster-to-Train, Adoption Boost, Sniff and Greet, and Pet Help Desk) each reduce shelter intake in a specific, measurable way.

We also built and operate the Animal Welfare Resource Network (AWRN), a shared technology platform that connects shelters, rescues, veterinary clinics, and community organizations into a coordinated prevention network. AAF is a 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2025 by disabled veteran BJ Adkins.
