Georgia Battlefields Association

The objectives of Georgia Battlefields Association are the acquisition, study, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge of Civil War battlefields in Georgia.

GBA is a 501(c)(3) corporation under IRS regulations and a non-profit corporation in good standing with the State of Georgia. We are an all-volunteer organization.

GBA works to prevent and reduce damage to Civil War sites in Georgia. Our efforts to acquire, study, preserve, and increase the public's awareness of Georgia’s Civil War sites take many forms: We help place durable historical markers with accessible narrative and user friendly graphics. We attend zoning hearings and other forums that might impact historic sites. We make recommendations and, sometimes, contributions, to other like-minded groups seeking our help. Most importantly, we assist in the purchase and permanent preservation of significant Civil War sites in Georgia. To increase awareness about our battlefield heritage, we lead tours and presentations about Georgia's Civil War sites. We offer tours for school groups and other historical interest organizations.

For almost thirty years, GBA has partnered with local, statewide, and national organizations (both public and private) to best leverage support to preserve Civil War and Rev War battlefields in Georgia. Our members come from North and South, East and West. We all share a common love of history and a desire to help preserve it for future generations.
