Founded in 1892, Central Michigan University (CMU) is an accredited R2 Doctoral Research University serving approximately 30,000 students each year, with average campus enrollment of 20,000 per year.

Graduate Programs

CMU has a proud tradition of academic excellence and provides nearly 100 graduate-level programs (master's, specialist, & doctoral). Students enjoy working closely with faculty mentors on research in publishable fields, and with publishing their work. With flexible graduate program plans, course schedules, and access to labs and research facilities, our graduate students can focus on their studies. No big city traffic and late-night distractions, but plenty to do. Mount Pleasant, Michigan, is a regional city in, well, Central Michigan. Dozens of outdoor parks, golf courses, running paths, and recreation fields, plus large shopping outlets and many dining options (large or quaint, fast-food or full service).

Campus Overview

Central Michigan University is located on 480 landscaped acres connected to a classic American university town. The community welcomes our graduate students, who in turn enjoy campus bike trails and walkways, shopping in our historical downtown, attending concerts, Division 1-A games and athletic events, and visiting many nearby dining and shopping facilities.

At the center of campus is the state-of-the-art Park Library, a favorite among faculty and students, where parking and all academic buildings are only a short walk away. Our campus features stately historical architecture uniquely blended with many new and state-of-the-art research and academic buildings, including our $95 million Bio-Sciences Research facility, our College of Medicine, our College of Education Building, the entire Graduate Housing complex, and much more.
