Acerca de

The population that attends UBECI, is a population that suffers different problems such as: social and legal discrimination, lack of schooling, bad hygiene habits, abuse and physical abuse. It is a population that due to its economic situation, it is necessary to work at an early age and collaborate in the family economy, it is a situation where children are forced to work from very early hours, in activities that are suitable for us at their age, and where they receive different forms of mistreatment and discrimination. Premature work can be defined as: work activity where the dignity of children is violated, and is detrimental to physical and psychological development, as well as interfering with schooling, reducing opportunities to go to school, forcing the child to leave school. school very early. The combination of work and study in children, demands a heavy load of time that prevents their intellectual development.

It must also be understood that due to the reality in which children live, they do not develop correct hygiene habits, which is why they are prone to develop diseases, poor nutrition and lack of physical development. The conditions in which children work within the markets, is characterized by constant abuse and mistreatment, which generates in children aggression, abuse and machismo, which are conditions that do not allow a normal development of childhood. For this reason UBECI developed a care program, which tries to change the reality of children, which aims to change the environment where it is developed, the strategy of the program is to contact families in order to make parents aware of the importance of reducing of working hours in their children, of the importance of the study, is a program that seeks the physical and psychological well-being of children.

The UBECI Foundation is a non-profit NGO founded in 1999, which has an inclusive and social proposal for the vulnerable population, which is working children as a risk, who have problems of labor exploitation, discrimination, lack of schooling, child abuse and bad health habits.

OUR PROCESS

At UBECI, we begin our work by conducting need assessments of the children we serve and their families. We look closely at rural areas as well as at different sectors of the city to reach out to the children and their families. After we have established a relationship with these families, we use the data we have collected and the fieldwork we have conducted to design social projects targeted at that group of children. Our primary goal is to reduce their working hours and to provide childhood development activities. We also work with schools, health centers, shelters, and other services accessible to the families in the areas we serve to build collaborative relationships and to better assist the children and their families.

With the help of international volunteers, we work to ensure that every child in our program has a safe environment to develop social skills and a positive identity. Our education programs cultivate their love of learning and encourage them to enroll and stay in school. Our social programs bring them the healthcare services that they lack. UBECI then follows up with these children in school to provide them with continual support throughout their schooling. Our work strives to break the cycle of poverty these children live in and offers them an opportunity to become self-sufficient, productive citizens.
