    What is CASA?

Court Appointed Special Advocates, CASAs, are trained volunteers that advocate for youth who have been abused or neglected, assisting the judge in making the most informed decision based on the child’s best interest. One CASA volunteer – one consistent adult – dedicated to a child’s well-being can make a difference by reducing the amount of time a child may spend in foster care, ensuring the child and family have access to vital resources, and helping strengthen and reunify families whenever possible.

Northwest Rocky Mountain CASA is one of 18 CASA programs in Colorado, serving the 14th Judicial District, encompassing Grand, Routt, and Moffat Counties. Our CASA program was built by Colorado CASA in 2008 at the request of the Chief Judge of the 14th Judicial District. In 2011, Northwest Rocky Mountain CASA received independent non-profit status and continues to build the CASA program locally. Since our beginning we have continued to grow our CASA program, training CASA volunteers and serving as the voice of children in Grand, Routt, and Moffat Counties.

In 2018 Northwest Rocky Mountain CASA expanded our services to the district providing 3rd party supervised visitation through our Rocky Mountain Centers. Through both of our programs, CASA and Rocky Mountain Center Supervised Visitation, we are committed to ensuring the children of the 14th Judicial District have safety, stability, and hope for the future.
