ENCINITAS PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION
Misión
The Encinitas Preservation Association dedicates itself to preserving historic buildings and places that represent the rich core of historic culture in the city of Encinitas for future generations and providing low-income housing to residents. In the past year, EPA hosted a bus tour around the city of Encinitas, stopping at multiple historic points of interest, allowing locals and visitors alike to learn about the history of the boathouses. The boathouse property hosts six rental units.
Acerca de
S.S. Encinitas and S.S. Moonlight, designated by the National Register of Historic Places as the Encinitas Boathouses, are two houses made to look like a boat in Encinitas, California. Despite their appearance, they have never been to sea and are purely novelty architecture. The dwellings were added to the register on October 21, 2019. The boats were constructed by Miles Minor Kellogg [2 ] in 1929, salvaging wood from the closed-down Moonlight Beach Dance Parlor and Encinitas Hotel. The dance parlor had closed due to the Prohibition.
