Depression is the most common mental health problem in the United States, and yet 70% of people affected can’t access or afford treatment. The LiveWell Foundation is on a mission to change that by offering free and effective depression support to anyone who wants it. Anyone can join our online support groups that are led by trained volunteers with their own lived experience of depression and resilience. Our groups follow a curriculum that teaches people the skills they need to reduce symptoms and relapses of depression, and to live well. And we know that it works. Not only is peer-led education proven to be more effective than therapy for depression recovery, but in a recent evaluation of the LiveWell Program, 96% of participants agreed that the LiveWell Program helped them better manage their own depression. Last year, people from diverse backgrounds across the country logged into our online peer-led support groups for adults, teens, seniors, adults with co-occurring depression and substance use, and physicians almost 10,000 times.
