Formed in 1997 by several nonprofit environmental, consumer, and health organizations, the Coalition for Clean Affordable Energy (CCAE) works in New Mexico to advance policies that allow for a more rapid transition to clean, renewable energy both at the Legislature and in proceedings before the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC). CCAE occupies a unique niche in that it brings together numerous organizations working towards similar goals, allowing its members a venue to collaborate, share activities, and augment their individual strengths through coordinated efforts. CCAE members include 350.org, Center for Advancing Sustainable Architecture, Environment New Mexico, Natural Resources Defense Council, New Mexico Public Interest Research Group, Partnership for Responsible Business, Rio Grande Chapter of the Sierra Club, Southwest Energy Efficiency Project, Southwest Research and Information Center, Union of Concerned Scientists, Western Environmental Law Center, and Western Resource Advocates.
