The Salvation Army has been assisting people in need in the Greater Chicagoland region for over 130 years. In communities throughout Chicago and the surrounding five-county area, we extend emergency and supportive assistance from corps community centers, service extension units, the Emergency Disaster Services Center, residential programs, mobile units and counseling sites.
Our mission is to meet human needs wherever they may be, without discrimination. As a result of this commitment to our community, we provide assistance to families and individuals in crisis – to those suffering after a flood or fire, and to those struggling with poverty, food insecurity, joblessness, impending or current homelessness, abuse and despair. This assistance has included nutritious meals, counseling, child care, shelter and transition to permanent housing.
