Caroline House teaches English as a Second Language and Life Skills to help women adjust to life in a new culture and become confident and contributing members of their families and communities. Classes are held four days a week from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Special workshops are provided on topics such as financial management, parenting, health and nutrition, domestic violence concerns and safety issues.
Children's Programs at Caroline House educate, encourage, and prepare students with academic skills and self-esteem to inspire successful outcomes in school and in life.
In the Early Childhood Program children are taught and nurtured by experienced, caring staff and volunteers. Preschoolers learn and explore through educational activities that increase school-readiness skills. Children also learn important self-help and social skills such as listening, cooperating and respecting others.
After-School Tutoring and Summer Enrichment for school-age children help to increase language, reading, writing and math levels. Tutoring also helps cultivate a greater interest in learning for the inner-city children served.
