Second Servings is Houston’s only prepared and perishable food rescue non-profit organization that is on a mission to fill stomachs, not landfills, with perfectly edible surplus food from food businesses. Second Servings picks up unserved and unsold food from convention centers, sports venues, distributors, hotels, etc. and executes free same-day delivery to more than 75 Houston-area shelters, soup kitchens, low-income housing and many other non-profits. Since Second Servings of Houston began operations in 2015, the team has rescued over 2 million pounds of food, valued at more than $10 million, from over 200 food donors.
