Action Network Family Resource Centers and Prevention Coalition

Action Network is a community-based health & wellness collaborative comprised of two Family Resource Centers & the Across Ages and Cultures Prevention Coalition.

Our mission is to build a healthy, peaceful, drug-free community by strengthening families, promoting collaboration, and implementing individual and environmental prevention strategies.

Our passion is to empower people to help themselves and others. We believe in building upon strengths through prevention programs.

Our vision is to be caring people who nurture one another across ages and cultures in a peaceful, healthy, drug-free community.

Serving the Redwood Coast, a bi-county region of Sonoma and Mendocino counties in Northern California from Fort Ross to Elk.

Action Network operates two Family Resource Centers - one in Gualala and one in Point Arena. Direct services include:

Early Childhood Education

• Pre-K: 3-5 year olds enjoy Bright Beginnings a program that includes music, art and gardening at Horicon Elementary School, Annapolis, CA 
• Learning through Play: A drop-off program for children 1.5 mos to 5 to preparation for Pre-K
• Playgroups: Children 0-5 and their caregivers play together and learn how to communicate in a positive way.
• iREAD: Encouraging parents, family members and caregivers to read to children 0-5 for 15 minutes per day.

Kids in Grades K-12

• Tutoring: careful matching with adult volunteers for one-on-one tutoring with coaching by a certificated teacher.
• Coastal Connections: Environmental Education Summer Camps

Teen Support and Enrichment

• Dream It Be It: Career Development
• AAC Internships: Youth Leadership 

Family Support to Raise Healthy Kids:

• Triple P Positive Parenting Program: parenting support & communication skills.
• Family Counseling & Support: Peer and professional counseling, peaceful alternatives to anger, bullying and violence in any of its many forms. 

Community Enrichment

• Multi-cultural Celebrations: Native American Pomo and Mexican cultures
• MCI Computer Lab: WiFi and computers available for all ages.
• Action Network Academy: Community Interest Classes and Classroom Space

Across Ages and Cultures (AAC) is a coalition of community members dedicated to preventing family violence and substance abuse through environmental strategies and evidence-based curricula.

Our mission is to support the efforts of the community sectors through prevention and  reduction of substance abuse among youth.

Our goals are to establish and strengthen the collaboration among our communities, public and private non-profit agencies, and federal, state, local and tribal governments in order to support the efforts of our community coalitions who are working to prevent and reduce substance abuse among our youth.

Across Ages and Cultures accomplishes this through the advocacy and environmental change with formal Strategic Prevention Framework training. Youth attend National Youth Leadership Initiative.
