Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue began in 2009 with a profound mission: to rescue senior or terminally ill German Shepherds who were at risk of dying alone in shelters-afraid, surrounded by strangers, and on a cold, stainless steel table. Driven by compassion and a determination to make a difference, we set out to change their stories.

In 2017, our founder established Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue as an independent, foster-based organization devoted to saving senior German Shepherds. We operate remotely with no physical facility, relying entirely on a small team of unpaid volunteers and a network of dedicated foster homes.

Since our founding, we have proudly rescued over 600 senior German Shepherds. What sets us apart is our unique commitment to our dogs: we never charge an adoption fee, and we continue to provide medical care for our senior dogs for the rest of their lives-even after adoption.

We are deeply passionate about rescuing these wonderful dogs, but we know there’s more work to do. Every day, countless senior German Shepherds are still at risk in shelters. With a small, dedicated team, we’ve made incredible strides, but to save more lives, we need your help.
