  • Misión

The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) is the primary presenter of contemporary art in Boston. Founded in 1936, its mission is to share the pleasures of reflection, inspiration, provocation, and imagination that contemporary art offers through public access to art, artists, and the creative process.

    Acerca de

The ICA has continually presented to Boston audiences exhibitions of groundbreaking artists such as Oskar Kokoschka, Paul Gauguin, Andy Warhol, Bill Viola, and Ellen Gallagher. A similar philosophy brings artists outside the museum's walls through the ICA/Vita Brevis program that commissions temporary public projects in Boston neighborhoods. Educational offerings include in- and out-of-school programs for middle and high school students, free evening programming oriented to college and university students and adults, courses, family programs and scholarly symposia. In 2006, due the space limitations at its current facility, we will open a new museum on Boston Harbor that will triple the ICA's current exhibition space, provide an education center and performing arts theatre.
