Spectrum for Living

Founded in 1983 by families of adults with developmental disabilities, Spectrum for Living is a leading nonprofit organization in New Jersey that helps adults with developmental disabilities attain their maximum potential by providing quality housing, medical, clinical, rehabilitative, social and educational services. Spectrum's 21 residences, including an intermediate care facility for medically-intensive care, provide 230 clients with a unique, barrier-free environment in the community where people with disabilities are respected as individuals and provided with the freedom, responsibility, and opportunity to meet life's challenges. Spectrum's six day-program training centers provide a variety of stimulating programs which develop skills and build interests of nearly 300 clients. Spectrum's support services team provides case management, recreation, respite and intake counseling to over 650 clients and their families. With facilities in Bergen, Passaic, Middlesex, and Monmouth counties, Spectrum is one of the largest and most respected nonprofit organizations serving adults with developmental disabilities in New Jersey.

Today, in its thirtieth year of operations, Spectrum's over 600 dedicated professionals continue to offer adults with developmental disabilities the freedom, responsibility and opportunity to face and meet life's challenges. The majority of board members are family members of clients, and they help to ensure that the strong focus on exemplary care remains a trademark of the organization.
