The Friends of Creston Children’s Dental Clinic is one of the only places in Portland where large numbers of low-income children can receive regular, high quality dental care in a clinic based setting. Established in 1962, Creston provides more than 1,200 students in the Portland Public School District with over 5,600 dental procedures each year. In 2010, The Friends of Creston Children’s Dental Clinic (FCCDC) assumed control of Creston from its founders, the Assistance League of Portland, who had decided to close the clinic. Since then, FCCDC has greatly re-vitalized the clinic with a new, more efficient operating model that is based on volunteers, collaboration, education, and cultural competency of care. Qualifying children receive treatment for free through the generosity of volunteer dental professionals.
