365 days a year, The Salvation Army provides shelter for over 103 homeless people a night: 25 Women with Children, 20 Veterans, 15 Single Women, and 50 Single Men and with an additional 30 emergency cots for extreme weather. Our disaster services prgram during Gustav provided shelter for over 300 people and 36,400 meals for state run shelters in need. On average lodging for over 30,000 people and serving over 150,000 meals a year. In 2009, The Salvation Army has provided help to over 163,000 personal assistance request thru the Senior Day Program, Disaster Services, School Uniforms Drives, Youth Corps, and at Christmas we serve over 6,000 children/families. Along with social services The Salvation Army's main mission is a fully operating Church with a Thrift Store in Shreveport.
