Intertribal Agriculture Council

Founded in 1987, the Intertribal Agriculture Council's (IAC) mission is to pursue and promote the conservation, development, and use of the agricultural resources of American Indian and Alaska Native Tribes. As a member organization, IAC provides a forum for Tribes and individual producers to elevate issues relevant to improving the management of Indian agricultural resources and promoting change in federal and Tribal policies. At the heart of IAC’s mission is strengthening the productivity of Tribal agricultural resources through initiatives that support producer training and development, expand market opportunities, reduce financial risk, and preserve and grow trust lands.

The Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC) is a member organization representing Tribes and individual producers nationwide, ensuring culturally appropriate outreach and engagement with its stakeholders and partners in the agricultural field. Since its founding, the IAC has been guided by its member Tribes, working to advance agricultural priorities on more than 56 million acres of land under Tribal jurisdiction in the United States. In addition to advocating for Indian Country’s agricultural interests among policymakers, IAC provides on-the-ground technical assistance, natural resources management, domestic and international market expansion, small agribusiness development, finance solutions, youth programs, professional development and more. With a deep understanding of the unique needs of the 574 federally recognized Tribes and their trust relationships with the federal government, IAC is committed commitment to strengthening Tribal agriculture and cultivating prosperous economies across Indian Country.
