The Sacramento Dharma Center maintains a shared home for its three founding sanghas, offering a place for Buddhist meditation practice and the study of Dharma.
Sacramento Dharma Center was created to develop and maintain a dedicated space to provide support for meditation-based Buddhist groups in the Sacramento area. It is home to the Sacramento Buddhist Meditation Group (SBMG), Valley Streams Zen Sangha (VSZS), and Sacramento Insight Meditation (SIM). They have common roots in meditation-based Buddhist practice and jointly share and maintain the Dharma Center as their home.
The Center is a nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation operated exclusively as a California Charitable 501(c)(3) Corporation. We closed escrow on the wonderful property on Wissemann Drive on June 13, 2016. The site was ready for occupancy by the sustaining Sanghas in the fall. Each Sangha provides weekly programs, weekend retreats, weekday morning meditation periods, and various other related classes and activities. The building has nearly 8,000 sq feet including a meditation hall, meeting rooms, offices, kitchen, dining room, library, and is situated on 1.7 acres.
