The Green-Wood Cemetery

Green-Wood is internationally recognized as one of the most beautiful and historic cemeteries in the world. Established in 1838, it is one of only a handful of America's cemeteries to have been designated a National Historic Landmark and was recently rated by CNN as one of the top ten most scenic cemeteries in the world, alongside the ranks of Pere-Lachaise in Paris and the Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague. It is the permanent residence of over 570,000 individuals. Green-Wood is an accredited arboretum of 478 acres and over 7,000 trees. Its 501c3 not-for-profit charitable institution, The Green-Wood Historic Fund, presents over 2,000 public programs and tours annually, including educational programs for local school groups.
