Daddy & Me Inc.

Daddy & Me Literacy Program, founded in 2018 by Marzuq Muhammad, implements a monthly book club for dads of color, which provides a space for fathers to instill the love of reading in their little ones while also encouraging fellowship among men of color. Each participant is provided a book for the session to support building the family's home library with books and authors intentionally representative of black and brown children. At Daddy & Me, we target dads of color but all of of our outreach indicates that "all are welcome". Our attitude is one that it takes a village and so we are inclusive of all people no matter race, gender, economic background, sexual orientation, and political perspective. The organization also host Pop Up Story-time sessions in the community. In 2022, it launched an annual Family Fun Day. The Daddy & Me Family Fun Day is an opportunity for families to come together for a day full of community, fun and enrichment. It provides an opportunity to 1) raise awareness about the literacy program 2) provide literacy and resources to the community and 3) create safe and inclusive space for families to have fun, participate in essential literacy and enrichment activities.
