Vanguard students work in an environment where creative thinking is not just encouraged but applauded and cherished; an environment where mistakes are viewed not as failure but as the exploration of a path that led in the wrong direction. A rigorous education; abiding curiosity; and respect, compassion, and service to others are the principled foundation on which Vanguard students will build their future and the reason that Vanguard education is special.

Classes develop scholars’ critical thinking and problem solving, but first we teach our incoming scholars how to be successful students. With high structure and consistent procedures, our scholars become organized, accountable, and achievement-oriented. By encouraging them to "think outside of the box" which opens them up to endless possibilities.
