Misión
The USBTA’s mission is to educate and grow the sport of Blind and Low Vision (BLV) tennis throughout
the United States.
To achieve this mission, we will focus on the following:
- accelerate the growth of blind and low vision (BLV) tennis across the United States;
- make tennis accessible to BLV athletes of all ages and abilities;
- inspire BLV individuals to consider casual participation through international tournament-level competition;
- maximize participation at the recreational, community, and tournament levels;
- expand knowledge and awareness of BLV tennis;
- maintain a clearinghouse of resources for the growth and development of the sport;
- operate by the current best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion;
- provide opportunities for all levels of blind athletes to participate in instruction, education, and tournament play;
- educate sighted individuals on the importance of and best practices with BLV players in tennis;
- provide both a framework and guidance in developing BLV tennis programs

Acerca de
The United States Blind Tennis Association (USBTA) is leading the way in bringing Blind and Low Vision tennis to the mainstream. USBTA was founded in 2022 by Highland Park Tennis Club President Dana Costa.
The organization works closely with the United States Tennis Association (nationally and locally) to bring tennis opportunities to a community that has been traditionally underrepresented. In a short time as an organization, USBTA has already conducted trainings and introduced programming in numerous states. USBTA is also further developing the sport through its research.
The organization has been recognized locally and nationally with a number of awards. Costa was recently named the recipient of a USTA National Adaptive Award.
