    Current areas of operation for SAVIDIDO:

    Luweero District (Butuntumula, Bamunanika, Luweero Town Council and Luweero sub- counties) and Nakaseke District (Kasangombe and Kikamulo and sub-counties)

    Target Group.

    Rural Women (80%), Small holder farmers, Youths, People Living with HIV and Aids, Cancer Patients,Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), People with Disabilities and people infected and affected by COVID-19.

    Background of SAVIDIDO

    St. Vincent De Paul Community Development Organization (SAVIDIDO) was humbly founded in 2014 after amalgamating 25 Self Help Groups spread across the three districts of Luweero, Nakaseke and Nakasongola. In 2015, St. Vincent De Paul Community Development Organization (SAVIDIDO) got incorporated as a non-profiting making organization (Limited Company by Guarantee) under Company ACT 2012 with incorporation number 80010000739952.It currently carries out its works with 50 Self Help Groups/VSLA Groups registered as Community Based Organizations (CBOs) 2 Primary Cooperatives and 2 Farmer Associations in the two districts of Luweero,(Butuntumula, Bamunanika, Luweero Town Council, and Luweero sub-counties), and Nakaseke(Kasangombe and Kikamulo and sub- counties). Currently, SAVIDIDO is only active in Luweero and Nakaseke districts due to resource constraints.

    Organizational Capacity Development and Sustainability.SAVIDIDO’s main offices are found in Mabale Village, Luweero Town Council in Luweero District.

    Thematic Areas of SAVIDIDO

    SAVIDIDO focuses on five intervention areas and these are:

    (a) Rural household livelihoods improvement covers; Food security and Nutrition, Savings and credits(VSLA Methodology) ,Environmental conservation(Tree planting campaigns, renewal energies, fuel saving stoves and appropriate technologies in general), Promotion of value addition, Marketing of farmers ‘produce ,Animal husbandry(Pastoralism,Pigerry and Poultry farming) ,Micro- enterprise development and promotion. For instance, candle making, briquettes making, school chalk, liquid soap making as well as Bread baking especially among the women and youths.

    Educational support entails; Promotion of child’s rights to education, health and child protection, provision of scholastic materials to 150 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC Social- Economic support to 150 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), Psycho-socio support to at least 150 OVC,strengthening Teachers and Parents Associations (PTAs) and Schools Management Committees (SMCs) through trainings and workshops as well as contributing towards quality education through organizing periodical trainings and workshops for teachers.

    Preventive Health and WASH includes; heath education on the six killer diseases, HIV and AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support ,championing Sexual Reproductive Health(SRH) activities and services especially among the Youths, provision of palliative care services, promotion,of Vocational Skills/Skilling Uganda through supporting and placing students/Pupils in the making to various Vocational Institutes, promoting and sensitizing communities and households on good sanitation practices, organizing household competitions on health as part of enhancing WASH at community and household levels respectively, integrating VSLA Methodology into WASH, safe water chain promotion among Water User Committees (WUCs) and Village Health Teams, construction of water sources/points, training and re-training the members of Water User Committees (WUCs) on their duties and responsibilities.

    Good Governance, Gender and Equal Opportunities involves; community mobilization and sensitization, facilitating formation of formal governance structures. For example, Community Based Organizations (CBOs) ,guiding and presiding over election of leaders in groups, conducting trainings on group dynamics, sensitization of community and group members on the eight pillars of good governance, conducting budget tracking and monitoring, formation of advocacy groups,platforams and strategies, organizing civic education especially at lower levels, promoting and upholding the rights of the marginalized and special interest groups like the rural women, the Youths,PLWH,OVC,the disabled, the elderly sensitizing communities on gender roles, constraints/discords and analysis.

    Organizational Capacity Development and sustainability covers; development and operationalization of the institutional frame work and policy documents, for example, three years strategic plan, human resource manual, financial manual, articles and memorandum of association, certificate of incorporation, annual budgets and work plans, establishing a robust monitoring and evaluation system and structure, creating and managing local and sustainable projects for the organization, infrastructural development of the organization, office administration and logistics like transport, communication and stationary, producing documentaries and publications data base and Website development and management, building and extension of networks and coalitions with different CSOs including local governments.
