Ecologists Without Borders

Ecologists Without Borders’ mission is to promote healthy ecosystems, the sustainable use of natural resources, and community resilience to ecological change through international collaboration and volunteer service.

Ecologists Without Borders (EcoWB) is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven, service-oriented organization of individuals who possess ecology-related technical knowledge and experience, and who are dedicated to restoring and conserving ecosystems and improving relationships between humans and nature. We connect knowledgeable volunteers with environmentally vulnerable communities worldwide to work together to solve ecological challenges. Our eco-projects are undertaken at the request of and in cooperation with local stakeholders, with deference given to local knowledge, desires, traditions, capabilities, and constraints. We believe that lasting solutions are best achieved through community-based approaches and partnering with local stakeholders.

Our approach is flexible, responsive, and accessible to all who share our mission and values. Through our bottom-up, decentralized approach to project planning and implementation, we offer project creators, civic leaders, and local residents a platform to engage in dialogue, refine ideas, and mobilize technical support from our dynamic network of partners and volunteers.

Environmental problems, no matter how daunting or widespread, can be best resolved by directly engaging with those most affected. By working with local communities, stakeholders, and NGOs in this deeply collaborative way, EcoWB fills an important niche in global conservation efforts.
