    Birthright of Norfolk, Inc. is a free, practical emergency pregnancy service whose volunteers offer a gentle, loving alternative to abortion in a confidential, non-judgmental atmosphere. Birthright volunteers aim to help a distressed pregnant mother feel loved, supported, accepted, worthwhile, hopeful, and encouraged. Birthright volunteers fall in step beside our clients with empathy and help them motivate their own inner strength, while taking care not to coerce, because each woman needs to make her own decision. Birthright is a positive response to a mother who doesn't want to be pregnant. Birthright volunteers help a mother bring her baby to birth and put her life back together again. Birthright services are always free, confidential and available to any woman regardless of age, race, circumstances, religion, marital status or financial situation.

    Birthright of Norfolk, Inc. was established in 1971 as a member of Birthright International, and has been serving the needs of women and their families throughout Hampton Roads solely through the work of volunteers and the generous support of donors. Our Birthright center offers free pregnancy tests, friendship counseling, referrals for medical care, and other practical help.

    At Birthright, we understand the challenges related to unplanned pregnancies. Birthright is available to women for as long as they need us. We offer love, friendship, and support to women who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant. Birthright is interdenominational and is not involved in any political activities or lobbying. Birthright's focus is on loving the mother, reminding her that there is hope and ensuring she is not alone.

    Birthright volunteers are the heart of our organization and we welcome women and men, 18 & up, to learn more about our charter and volunteer at least 3 hours each week to meet with women in need, at our Birthright center.

    Birthright volunteers befriend a woman who is facing an unplanned pregnancy; enable her to choose life for her child; and make a difference in two lives at once.
