Sembabule District Association of Women with Disability

SEDAWOD is a community based organization dedicated to working with disabled women, mothers with disabled children, families and their communities to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. SEDAWOD is registered with Sembabule District and holds registration certificate No. 787. SEDAWOD commenced operations in Sembabule in 2002 and currently has a membership of 200 disabled women and mothers of disabled children in 3 sub counties of Sembabule district. Beginning with a few works like advocating for the rights of the disabled in Sembabule Town Council in 2002, SEDAWOD has since grown to a leading advocacy front for the disabled including those that are living with HIV/AIDS in Sembabule. SEDAWOD programs in the district focus on psychosocial support and advocating for the rights of the disabled people living with HIV/AIDS, livelihoods support to OVC households, HIV/AIDS prevention, and socio-economic development.
