Acerca de

Been in a war for 25 years, Lamwo District ranks among the top poorest districts in Northern Uganda. The constituency that constitutes about 400,000 people who are majorly young people are undergoing recovery from the tragedy that left many families missing or separated, lives lost, education stunted, incomes extensively reduced, poverty increased, healthcare systems disrupted, and the environment destroyed to an unthinkable level. Young people are bewildered, traumatized, without any hopes in the government and need urgent help. The women and girls are at the top of these sufferings. With this large scale agony, what is better than a youth-driven association that restores hope, builds skills, and corrects the messes of war? We are an exclusive youth-led organization that mobilize local and international volunteers to creatively work out these problems.

The birth of this life-changing initiative dates back to 2016 with the vision of unlocking the potential of youth from the war-ravaged Lamwo and entire Northern Uganda to embrace gender equality, conserve our environment, access better education, provide better healthcare, produce active citizens, and creatively start and run businesses to generate incomes.

With its vibrant and standby team, the youth-led initiative hosts training seminars, debates- leadership, business and entrepreneurship courses, ICT workshops, sustainable education models, with special emphasis on the women and girls and advocates for a gender-equal society and good governance in the country

Since inception, the organization has reached out to hundreds of youths in the district through its “Home-made jewellery, “Speak Good English” and scholarship program, Weekly environmental news, and other projects. We have hosted numerous online and offline campaigns around the aforementioned areas and realized tremendous success. We also built incredible partnerships, both locally and internationally to move forward the youth agenda.

We have been recognized by district leaders, other civil society organizations in the region for our dedication to developing the potential and talents of our youths. Genesis Academy, a local elementary school has benefited hugely from our education programs; providing scholastic materials or supporting their student events including the parents day by covering logistics costs.

Through the efforts of our exceptional donors and partners, we are glad that our organization has been at the forefront of development.

We are unique, yes, we are. We are all volunteers, change makers, peace lovers, and young leaders. We are like-minded youth that put the community before self.

Our Mission:

LYFC exists to identify the unique potentials in youth, help them in building it, and later employing the unique skills in addressing some of the most pressing community issues. We believe in our hands, heads, and our big hearts (passion) will leave immense impacts in our communities.

Vision:

We stand to liberate our community from extreme poverty, poor health, human rights violations, gender inequality, boost education and family incomes, conserve the environment as soon as possible
