Afoni Children of Hope Foundation - NGO
Misión
Mission: ACOHOF’s mission is to restore hope, protect dignity, and expand sustainable opportunities for vulnerable children, young people, women, persons with disabilities, people affected by muscular dystrophy, other rare diseases or HIV/AIDS, internally displaced families, and underserved rural communities in Cameroon. From its operational base in Bankim, Mayo-Banyo Division, Adamawa Region, and drawing on its roots in Tatum, Bui Division, the Foundation responds to poverty, conflict-related displacement, interrupted education, poor access to healthcare and safe water, unemployment, discrimination, and limited access to rights and essential services. Through inclusive education; technical and vocational training; climate-smart agriculture and agribusiness; entrepreneurship and financial inclusion; community health, disability inclusion and rare-disease support; water, sanitation and hygiene; humanitarian and psychosocial assistance; child protection; music, talent and community-media development; and human-rights education, ACOHOF equips people to become healthy, skilled, self-reliant, and active participants in peaceful, resilient, and sustainable communities.
Vision: ACOHOF envisions an inclusive Cameroon where every vulnerable child, young person, woman, person with a disability, and displaced or marginalized family can learn, thrive, exercise their rights, and build a secure future with dignity, equality, hope, and self-reliance.

Afoni Children of Hope Foundation (ACOHOF) — Transforming Lives, Restoring Hope, Building Futures
Afoni Children of Hope Foundation (ACOHOF) is a grassroots, nonprofit humanitarian and development organization founded in Cameroon in 2008 and officially registered in 2010. Guided by our motto, “Hope for the Underprivileged,” we work to break the cycles of poverty, inequality, social exclusion, and vulnerability through education, empowerment, humanitarian assistance, and sustainable community development.
Our mission is to create meaningful opportunities for disadvantaged children, orphans, vulnerable young people, women and girls, internally displaced persons (IDPs), persons with disabilities, rural families, and marginalized communities. We believe that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, deserves dignity, protection, quality education, practical skills, and the opportunity to become self-reliant.
Our Story and Community Commitment
ACOHOF began in Tatum, in Cameroon's North West Region, where we established community development initiatives, agricultural training programmes, and ACOHOF Community Radio FM 98.5. The ongoing armed conflict forced us to suspend operations at our original Family Farm School and community radio station. Rather than abandon our mission, we expanded our activities to Bankim in the Adamawa Region, supporting displaced children, vulnerable families, and underserved rural communities. We also maintain a commitment to displaced and disadvantaged young people in Bafoussam and other affected communities.
Our Programmes and Areas of Impact
Education and youth empowerment remain at the heart of our work. In Bankim, we operate two distinct but complementary institutions: the ACOHOF Family Farm School and the ACOHOF Bilingual Technical Vocational College of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship (ATVOCAE). These institutions combine academic education with practical agriculture, livestock production, vocational skills, entrepreneurship, and work-based learning to prepare young people for employment, self-employment, and responsible citizenship.
Our wider initiatives encompass child protection, support for displaced families, women's economic empowerment, sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), renewable energy, community health, human rights education, and financial inclusion.
Through the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Cameroon (MDA Cameroon), we promote awareness, dignity, inclusion, and support for children and families affected by muscular dystrophy, rare diseases, and disabilities. Our human rights initiatives promote civic awareness, peaceful coexistence, and social justice, while ACOHOF Community Radio represents our longstanding commitment to community participation, information access, and grassroots voices.
Our Values
Our work is guided by compassion, human dignity, integrity, inclusion, gender equality, accountability, solidarity, community participation, and environmental sustainability. We believe that sustainable development must be driven by communities themselves, supported by partnerships built on mutual respect, transparency, and shared responsibility.
Join Us in Creating Lasting Change
As a grassroots organization working in resource-constrained communities, we recognize the importance of partnerships, volunteerism, and collective action. We welcome local and international volunteers, educational institutions, professionals, development organizations, foundations, and socially responsible businesses interested in contributing expertise, resources, mentorship, and practical support.
Whether through teaching, vocational training, agriculture, technology, fundraising, communications, humanitarian assistance, or community development, there are meaningful opportunities to contribute.
At ACOHOF, we believe that true development goes beyond providing immediate assistance. It means equipping people with the knowledge, confidence, skills, and opportunities to build independent, dignified, and sustainable futures.
Together, we can transform vulnerability into opportunity and restore hope where it is needed most.
