Acerca de

The International Civil society Action Network (ICAN), founded in 2006, is a registered non-profit, US based organisation. Its aim is to strengthen civil society and women’s participation and influence in conflict prevention; social justice; coexistence; and peacebuilding efforts, in situations of closed political space and conflict affected states. In particular ICAN aims to support women’s peace efforts through bridging the divisions between activists and the policy community, building skills and ensuring the exchange of knowledge. In January 2010, ICAN and the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) joined forces. GNWP bridges the gap between policy discussions and implementation and action on the ground on women and peace and security issues. Both organizations believe that they can mutually benefit from the partnership as they both work on women, peace and security issues and share the principle that elevating the voices and the profile of national and community based women’s groups in global policy discussion spaces is of utmost importance.

ICAN/GNWP has offices in Washington DC and New York City.
