The Boise Phil has long been an important part of Boise, and Idaho’s music landscape. The Phil can trace its roots back to 1885 and the Boise City Orchestra and the Boise Philharmonic Society in 1887. The Boise Phil is a nonprofit organization, supported by the community it serves and governed by an elected board of directors. The professional orchestra is comprised of 77 professional musicians and is complemented with an 80 member volunteer Master Chorale. the BPA also has a focus on education with primary focus on supporting music education in schools and advanced performance opportunities to students in grades 5-12 through our Youth Orchestra Program.
