IPHA strives to connect professionals across disciplines and practice settings. The health of Iowans occurs within traditional, governmental-based public health agencies and by professionals practicing prevention and population health care in community settings across the state. By making these connections, the association raises awareness of the value of public health and increases the pool of organizations and professionals working to advance public health.

IPHA members live and work throughout Iowa and are united by a shared vision of advancing public health in Iowa. IPHA has over 300 members comprised of public health professionals, students, retirees and agency members in Iowa. Although united by a common purpose of protecting the health of the population, the public health workforce is diverse. IPHA membership is comprised of emergency responders, health educators and nutritionists, occupational health and safety professionals, public health physicians and nurses, oral health providers, public policymakers and community planners, restaurant inspectors and sanitarians, laboratorians and scientists, researchers and academics, social workers and mental health providers.

IPHA has an active board of directors dedicated to promoting and expanding the organization. The association is assisted in its activities by the coordinator, Jeneane Moody. Ms. Moody, with a master’s degree in public health, is a recognized public health leader who has 15 years of administrative and planning policy experience. IPHA would recruit and hire a Program Director who would be responsible for overall program direction, monitoring the AmeriCorps members’ activities, submitting reports to the state and federal government, and assuring that all members meet the requirements for training and development.
