Mount Sinai - Risk Assessment & Genetic Counseling for Breast & Ovarian Cancer

New York, NY

Acerca de

This clinical research protocols group is currently involved with studies, based at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, which are related to genetic counseling and testing for women at increased risk for familial breast and/or ovarian cancer. The main goals of these studies are to evaluate different types of interventions to maximize benefit from genetic counseling sessions and to help women with their decision about whether or not to have genetic testing. Through this research, women receive information and counseling about their risks for breast and ovarian cancer at no cost. With this information, women may be able to make more informed decisions about their health care. In addition, eligible women may choose to have genetic testing as well, usually at their own cost. Of course, all the information given to us will be completely confidential. Participants must be at least 18 years old and have family histories of breast and/or ovarian cancer.
