Embrace A Vet is a non profit organization established in 2012 to offer direct and supportive services to Maine veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and/or Traumatic Brain Injury and their families free of charge. We offer 3 programs; Multi-day Residential Healing and Wellness Retreats where veteran and spouse or other significant person learn alternative healing modalities including energy psychology techniques to reduce PTSD symptoms , Caregiver Peer-Lead Support Groups and Paws for Peace, a service dog training program that provides a carefully selected rescue dog and matches it to a veteran. Together this team trains for 16 weeks to earn certification and then continues in a followup program for an additional 6 months. Currently we have served over 100 veterans in the retreat program and have produced 60 service dogs.
