Jefferson Chamber Foundation Academy

The Jefferson Chamber Foundation Academy is a charter managment orgnaization serving at-risk students in Jefferson Parish. JCFA's mission is to provide a learning environment that allows our students to develop their potential, and prepare them for post-secondary education and/or the work force; and collaborate with community agencies, organizations, and institutions to meet our students' needs. The vision of the Jefferson Chamber Foundation Academy is to re-engage and re-connect students in order to increase the graduation rate, by defining specific avenues to guide our students to post secondary training, education, and work force opportunities. We will offer our students the opportunity to achieve a high school diploma in an alternative environment which provides external supports. Flexible scheduling support services, self-paced, technologyenhanced curriculum, and project based learning combined with lower pupil to teacher ratios will help create an environment that fosters personal responsibility, community involvement, and academic development. By providing a clear pathway to high growth career opportunities and utilizing the business community’s reliance on project-based learning and teamwork development, JCFA students will experience relevance in their academic courses, and be empowered to meet the required academic rigor.

Jefferson Chamber Foundation Academy will serve the at-risk student population currently enrolled, or those who have previously been enrolled in Jefferson Parish Public Schools, through a standards-based, flexible, computer curriculum. The academic philosophy of the Academy is:  All students, especially at-risk students, are capable of excelling academically when given the supportive services they need to focus on their academic goals.  Provide an innovative education for students who are unable to function successfully in a traditional high school and allow students to achieve at their own pace.  Academic success should not be limited to what is taught in a classroom, but must encourage and include life experiences and hands on learning to help develop the whole student  Relevance and rigor must exist in practice as well as in policy and should include academic ideas as well as personnel practices  Education is not a point in time but a continued journey that requires access, support and commitment  Focus on individual needs and create success one student at a time
