We create educational and agroecological learning opportunities to promote happy and creative childhoods in the Maya Ixil Region of Guatemala

Our vision is of a community that lives in harmony with nature, inspired by the Mayan cosmovision and engaged in social and environmental action. We integrate place-based environmental education with a focus on learning through play in the outdoors.

We provide extra-curricular educational programmes for children aged 6-18-years-old at our Casagua project site, on the slopes of Central America's highest non-volcanic mountain range, the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes. Through weekly workshops focused on themes such as organic growing, seed saving and harvesting in our greenhouses, or learning about plants, insects and trees through music and art, we engage children in the wonders of nature.

We aim to improve local food security and food sovereignty while achieving environmental protection, gender equality, strengthened cultural identity and holistic educational outcomes for Ixil children and youth.
