Shareholder engagement is a key dimension of environmental/social/governance (ESG) or sustainable/responsible investing that is common in the US and Europe. The Alliance enables asset managers to apply the approaches of shareholder engagement to emerging market equities, corporate debt, sovereign debt, and project finance. In so doing, investors can make a positive impact on the world while enhancing their assessment of ESG risks and using engagement to improve returns.

The Alliance’s primary activities include (1) organizing educational events for investors (e.g., panel discussions and workshops, with policy experts), (2) producing research on policy issues that support investor advocacy, and (3) organizing forums where investors and policy experts can interact with corporate or government officials to discuss best practices.
