HASSLE FREE CLINIC

Hassle Free Clinic is a community-based sexual health clinic offering free medical information, counselling and services. We offer confidential treatment and testing for STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections), vaccinations (Hepatitis A, B and Gardasil-9 for HPV), anonymous HIV testing and PrEP/PEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis), birth control, and pregnancy tests .

Principles of Operation

• Complete and understandable information about reproduction, sexuality, birth control, sexually transmitted infections and HIV.
• Anonymous HIV testing, counselling and support.
• Confidential STI testing and treatment, with emphasis on patient responsibility for follow-up and informing contacts.
• Access for women to the full spectrum of reproductive care.
• Active patient involvement in health care decisions, emphasizing fully informed choice.
• Medical treatment and counselling provided in a respectful, non-judgmental manner.
• To work from an anti-oppression framework that recognizes and respects the full diversity of Toronto’s communities.
• Safe, effective birth control.

The clinic is incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization with a nine member community board of directors. The Board is responsible for overall financial and policy direction, in consultation with the staff.

Hassle Free is one organization, sharing the same premises but operating at different hours for men’s clients and women’s clients (Trans identified clients can attend wherever they feel most comfortable). The staff are responsible for administration, program development and service delivery. Each clinic is staffed by a medical director, doctors and paramedic counsellors. A city of Toronto public health nurse is assigned to work during the Men’s clinic hours.

The Women's clinic provides birth control, pregnancy testing, abortion referrals, STI and HIV testing and counselling and other services related to women's sexual and reproductive health. The Men's clinic specializes in STI and HIV testing and counselling. Testing is done at the Ministry of Health laboratory and through a private lab. Treatment for most STIs are free and provided by the Ministry.
