Ventura County Library’s READ Adult Literacy Program helps adults improve their reading and writing skills so that they can perceive a positive impact on their lives in such areas as self-esteem, employment, family life, and community involvement.

Our locations are throughout Ventura County and are listed here:

As a tutor, you will be:

• Trained to provide free one-to-one reading and writing instruction.
• Paired with an adult learner at a library location convenient for you.
• Expected to meet as a pair for about an hour a week.

Our main goals include:

• Developing students' receptive English language skills of listening and reading comprehension.
• Developing students' productive English language skills in speaking and writing.
