This role involves providing legal counsel, ensuring organizational compliance, and representing CCLA in legal matters. The Legal Advisor will draft and review contracts, assist with governance, and prepare legal documents such as amicus briefs. Ideal candidates are licensed attorneys or experienced paralegals with a strong commitment to social justice and nonprofit work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and counsel to ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Represent CCLA in legal matters, including the preparation and submission of amicus briefs.
- Assist with governance and advise on legal obligations of board members.
- Research and analyze legal issues related to civil liberties and advocacy.
- Support advocacy efforts by ensuring legal accuracy in policy proposals and public communications.
- Case review and assessment for potential impact litigation.
