Offer Peace, Comfort, and Healing Presence

Gentiva Hospice is seeking trained Reiki Volunteers to provide gentle, energy-based support to hospice patients. This calming, holistic approach can help promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and bring a sense of peace during the end-of-life journey.

Role Overview

Reiki Volunteers offer light-touch or no-touch sessions tailored to each patient’s comfort level. Working as part of the hospice care team, you will help create a soothing environment that supports emotional and spiritual well-being.

Volunteer Responsibilities

• Provide Reiki sessions to patients in accordance with their preferences and comfort
• Create a calm and respectful environment during visits
• Adapt sessions to meet individual physical and emotional needs
• Communicate appropriately with hospice staff regarding visits
• Maintain accurate visit documentation as required
• Respect cultural, spiritual, and personal beliefs at all times

Qualifications

• Certified Reiki practitioner (Level II or higher preferred)
• Compassionate, calm, and empathetic demeanor
• Comfort working with individuals facing serious illness and end-of-life care
• Strong listening and presence-based communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA training provided)

Training & Support

• Orientation to hospice philosophy and care practices
• Guidance on integrating Reiki into end-of-life care
• Ongoing support from volunteer coordinator and interdisciplinary team
• Clear protocols to ensure patient safety and comfort
