About Mentor A Promise
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit serving children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability through mentorship, literacy, social-emotional learning (SEL), creative expression, and community-based programs. MAP’s educational work prioritizes consistency, dignity, cultural responsiveness, and accessibility—ensuring learning environments are safe, affirming, and developmentally appropriate for every child.
Curriculum at MAP is not static. It is adaptive, integrated, and designed to meet learners where they are while supporting growth across academic, social, and emotional domains.
About PromiseLearning | Education Division
PromiseLearning oversees curriculum, instruction, pedagogy, mentor development, and educational quality across all MAP programs. The division ensures learning experiences align with evidence-based practice, trauma-informed care, accessibility standards, and MAP’s mission.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Director of Curriculum & Instruction to lead the design, coherence, and quality of MAP’s educational content across programs. This senior leadership role owns curriculum development, instructional standards, and age-banded learning frameworks, ensuring strong alignment across literacy, numeracy, and integrated SEL.
The Director of Curriculum & Instruction works closely with the Chief of Education, Director of Mentor Training & Development, program leadership, and accessibility teams to ensure curriculum is rigorous, culturally responsive, and accessible to all learners.
