    About The Becoming Love Project

The Becoming Love Project is a nonprofit storytelling and film organization creating narrative-driven work at the intersection of film, culture, and impact.

We operate like a creative studio inside a nonprofit, developing films, programs, and storytelling experiences that translate lived experience into cinematic narrative while also generating insight, learning, and measurable impact. Our work supports vulnerable populations and centers ethical, research-informed storytelling.

    About This Internship

This internship is designed for students who are interested in how creative programs work, how impact is measured, and how storytelling intersects with data, research, and evaluation.

As a Programming Intern, you’ll support the design, implementation, and evaluation of storytelling programs and film-adjacent initiatives, including the Youth Screenwriting and Storytelling Program. You’ll be involved in both creative process and program analysis, helping us understand what participants experience, what outcomes emerge, and how the work evolves.

This role is structured, mentored, and hands-on. It’s ideal for students considering careers in research, social impact, program management, producing, arts administration, or graduate study.

    What You Will Work On

    Program Design and Support

Support planning and coordination for storytelling and film-related programs

Assist with session preparation, materials, and logistics

Help track participation, attendance, and program milestones

    Data, Research, and Evaluation

Support collection of qualitative and quantitative program data

Assist with surveys, reflections, feedback forms, and basic data organization

Help document participant experiences, outcomes, and emerging patterns

Support analysis of what’s working, what’s emerging, and what could improve

    Story and Creative Development

Support collaborative story development activities tied to film and storytelling projects

Assist with organizing scripts, outlines, drafts, and creative documents

Observe and support how themes move from conversation to written and cinematic form

    Film and Creative Production Support

Support program elements connected to short films and creative production

Assist with scheduling, coordination, and preparation for screenings or creative gatherings

Learn how storytelling programs feed into film development and production

    Operations and Organization

Maintain organized digital folders, datasets, and program materials

Support internal documentation, notes, and reflections

Assist with real timelines and deliverables connected to live projects

This role sits at the intersection of creativity, structure, and insight.

    What You Will Learn

How storytelling programs are designed, facilitated, and evaluated

How qualitative data and narrative feedback are gathered and interpreted

How creative and film-based programs demonstrate impact

How nonprofits use data for learning, funding, and accountability

How ethical storytelling operates when serving vulnerable populations

How program work informs film development, production, and public-facing narratives

You’ll gain experience that translates directly to research, policy, social impact, producing, and program leadership paths.

    Who This Is For

This role is a strong fit if you are:

A current college student or recent graduate in psychology, sociology, public health, data science, social work, policy, nonprofit management, arts administration, or a related field

    Organized, detail-oriented, and analytical

Comfortable working with both people and information

Interested in research, evaluation, and impact-driven creative work

Curious about how storytelling and film can be studied, measured, and improved

No prior research or film experience is required. Curiosity, care, and follow-through matter more.

What You Will Walk Away With

Hands-on experience supporting real programs and film-adjacent initiatives

Experience collecting, organizing, and interpreting program data

Exposure to story development and creative production processes

Examples of evaluation, reporting, and impact documentation

Mentorship and guidance from a board and team of experienced professionals

Clear experience you can reference in research, grad school, or job applications

    Professional references upon successful completion

This internship is designed to build real skills and real clarity, not just exposure.

    Compensation

This is an unpaid internship. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution.
