POSITION: Marketing Communications Specialist
TERM of COMMITMENT: 1 year renewable, beginning January 1, 2026 (preference for 2-3 year commitment)
LOCATION: The Leadership Center: Comayagua, Comayagua, Honduras (Open to international applicants — relocation required)
ABOUT US: The mission of Leadership Mission International is to develop a new generation of ethical women leaders by providing exceptional academics, leadership and community development experiences. We are afaith-based, U.S. nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and public charity. We work in Honduras through The Leadership Center, where we educate classes of 15-20 young women each year over the course of two years so that they will return to their communities as leaders, reinvest in their local economies, and initiate economic and ethical progress in Honduras. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The young women who are selected to attend The Leadership Center have already navigated significant challenges to complete high school. The Leadership Center grants students’ full scholarships so that upon graduation they may start their own businesses, become teachers, enroll in higher education, or work with nonprofit organizations focused on development. The young women come determined, motivated, inspired, and grateful. Your role is: to support on-the-ground communications efforts through photo, video, and text journalism.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a passion for:
❖ Advocating for the needs and priorities of young women with a wide array of backgrounds, most coming from communities lacking resources and opportunities
❖ Actively building long-term relationships with students, other staff, and community members
❖ Communicating the story of The Leadership Center with the wider world through text, video, and photos on Social Media, in newsletters, and in our blog.
REQUIRED DUTIES:
❖ Takes initiative to develop creative techniques for telling the story of Leadership Mission International to the wider community outside of The Leadership Center with a passion for building the mission and reach.
❖ Designs, implements, and manages marketing strategies for each quarter of the Academic Year:
❖ Develops and publishes photo, video, and written content for our social media (every week), blog (every month), and newsletter (every quarter)
❖ Manages and updates website
❖ Adds notes and direct campaigns and communications to financial partners through our Donor Management Platform
❖ Manages and oversees all communications between Sponsors and Students: Student Sponsor Program
❖ Collaborates effectively with other staff members on techniques for advertising to Honduran network and LMI graduates
❖ Works in close collaboration with Human Resources Manager at TLC to plan communications for short-term visiting teams
❖ Tutor students 1:1 in English approximately 2-3 hours per weekday
❖ Establishes regular meetings and partner with the Communications Committee for the Board of Directors and the Student Marketing Team on campus
❖ Reports directly to the Development Manager as immediate supervisor
❖ Optional: Participate and/or lead ministry activities/events on campus
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
A successful applicant will have a background that reflects a commitment to building collaborative, productive, and respectful relationships among colleagues and community members. This should be complemented by strengths in the following areas:
❖ Adaptable team-player
❖ Effective mentor
❖ Degree or experience in marketing, communications, digital storytelling, or related field
Preferred:
❖ Bilingual in Spanish and English
❖ Work experience in a multicultural setting
❖ Experience mentoring and/or discipling post-high school graduates in a vocational setting

HIRING BENEFITS:
❖ Room and board provided.
❖ Monthly stipend $400.00
❖ Monthly health stipend $100.00
❖ Residency cost covered.
❖ One two way flight stipend per academic year paid monthly. $83.33
❖ Eight weeks of vacation annually, some during student vacation and some during academic periods as determined by the Campus Director.
❖ While the financial compensation is modest, this opportunity provides valuable hands-on experience, mentorship, and the chance to make a tangible impact in a growing organization.
One of the great benefits of The Leadership Center is its safe, rural environment, where we practice sustainable agriculture and engage in clean living practices. TLC does not have the infrastructure of a university in the developed world: quite the contrary. You will live off the grid. Sometimes, electricity, water, or Wi-Fi will go out. If you can go with the flow, improvise, and smile when things do not go as planned, you will help contribute to the positive atmosphere.
