IDEAL BACKGROUND
Marketing, communications, journalism, media studies, or any discipline with a strong writing component — including students and graduates with hands-on experience managing social media in any capacity (personal brand, campus org, freelance, or internship). OPT/CPT candidates encouraged to apply.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Craft, edit, and publish compelling posts across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn that reflect CWPC's mission and voice
- Tailor content to resonate with each platform's audience — tone, format, and timing vary across channels
- Select or create visually engaging images and short video clips to pair with written content
- Keep CWPC's social pages current with initiative updates, impact stories, and community news
- Collaborate with the communications and design teams to promote events, open volunteer roles, and new tools
- Monitor and report on social media performance — engagement, reach, shares, and follower growth
- Run awareness campaigns (competitions, promotions, partnerships) to grow CWPC's online community
- Respond promptly and thoughtfully to comments and messages on CWPC's social channels
WHAT YOU BRING
- Experience writing for social media — whether in a professional role, internship, campus organisation, or personal capacity
- Strong written communication skills — concise, engaging, and adaptable to different audience voices
- Hands-on familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, and/or LinkedIn for content publishing
- Basic understanding of SEO, hashtag strategy, and what makes content perform online
- Ability to work independently, meet content deadlines, and manage an async publishing schedule
- Curiosity about analytics — comfortable reading basic metrics like reach, impressions, and engagement rate
- Genuine interest in climate resilience, environmental advocacy, or mission-driven storytelling
BONUS IF YOU HAVE
- Experience with Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Buffer, or similar scheduling/analytics tools
- Familiarity with paid social advertising (boosted posts, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads)
- Basic graphic design skills — Canva, Adobe Express, or similar — to create simple visual assets
- Prior social media work for a nonprofit, advocacy campaign, or environmental organisation
- Experience writing for a cause-driven or scientific audience
WHO THRIVES HERE
- Writers and communicators who want their words to drive real-world impact — not just likes
- Self-starters who can own a content calendar and hit publish without needing hand-holding
- International students on OPT/CPT looking for qualifying employment in Marketing or Communications with an immediate start and flexible hours
- Anyone who believes storytelling is one of the most powerful tools for social change
