Role Purpose:
To support laboratory staff by assisting with patient flow and identification, ensuring an efficient and welcoming experience for patients while maintaining safety and privacy standards. This role does not involve clinical or medical duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients in the laboratory waiting area in a courteous and professional manner
- Escort patients from the waiting area to the appropriate laboratory space as directed by laboratory staff
- Verify patient identity by confirming full name and date of birth prior to handoff to laboratory personnel
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and staff
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all privacy and safety guidelines
- Notify laboratory staff promptly of patient arrival or any concerns
Scope of Role / Limitations:
- This is a non-clinical role; volunteers will not perform specimen collection, medical procedures, or provide medical advice
- Volunteers will not access medical records or discuss test results
- All clinical tasks remain the responsibility of licensed laboratory staff

Training & Supervision:
- Volunteers will receive orientation on laboratory workflow, patient identification procedures, and confidentiality expectations
