The Geo Foundation's events take place every year to support our two fundraising programs:
- Community Fund: Scholarships awarded across 5 high schools - Bloomfield, Glen Ridge, Montclair, and Wayne Hills & Valley. Each year, we bring these scholars together for lunches and dinners to learn from each other and develop alongside one another.
- Family Assistance Fund: Funding provided to families who have a child going through cancer at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude helps every youth patient with treatment, housing, and food along with one parent at no cost.
The events we organize are:
- 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk (usually every May on a Saturday) in Bloomfield, NJ
- Golf Outing (usually every July on a weekday like Monday or Thursday) in Wayne, NJ
- Casino Night & Gala (usually every October or November on a Saturday) near Totowa, NJ
5K Details
The event starts at 8am (usually every May on a Saturday). We usually arrive at 6am to start preparing. The main areas we need help are:
- Setup: We usually set up about 3-4 tables with tents, food, and supplies
- Registration: Help greet our racers and check them in
- Water Station: Hand out water to our runners and walkers
- Break down: We'll break down tables and supplies and head out
Golf Outing Details
The event starts at 11am (usually every July on a weekday like Monday or Thursday). We usually arrive at 10am to start preparing. The main areas we need help are:
- Setup: We usually set up about a registration table and several hole competition tables throughout the course
- Registration: Help greet our golfers and check them in
- Hole Competitions: Host a hole competition - welcome golfers, tell them about the competition, and keep track of who is winning (competitions like "Hole in One Challenge" and "Longest Drive Competition")
- Raffle announcement: At the end of the event we run a raffle - help announce the winning ticket numbers and call out prizes
Casino Night & Gala Details
The event starts at 6pm (usually every October or November on a Saturday). We usually arrive at 5pm to start preparing. The main areas we need help are:
- Setup: We set up the prizes for our tricky tray raffle on tables at the event
- Registration: Help greet our guests and check them in
- Ticket Exchange: Help exchange guest's play money for raffle tickets
- Raffle announcements: help announce winning ticket numbers and hand out prizes
