Looking for a meaningful way to spend a few hours a week?
The Roanoke History Museum & O. Winston Link Museum is on the lookout for outgoing, dependable volunteers to help welcome guests at our front desk and gift shop!
If you enjoy chatting with visitors, soaking in local history, or just watching the trains go by—this might be the perfect spot for you.
Responsibilities include:
- Greeting visitors from near and far
- Assist with admission and gift shop sales
- Share local tips and stories
- Watch trains go by from our windows
- Enjoy quiet time during slower hours
Volunteer shifts:
Mornings | 10:00AM – 1:00 PM
Afternoons | 1:00PM – 4:30 PM
No special background needed—we'll show you everything you need to know!
This is a true volunteer position and can not be used to fulfill court mandated community service hours or aid in establishing residency.

We are located on Shenandoah Ave. directly across the street from Hotel Roanoke. We are located in the old N&W Passenger Station with the Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge Visitor Information Center.
