EPOCH Dream Center is seeking four half-time AmeriCorps Members for the 2026-2027 service year to assist with their after-school and summer program serving under-resourced children.
Epoch is a free after-school and summer program serving under-resourced children in first through seventh grades with a mission to mentor, nurture, encourage, and equip children in the areas of academics, character development, behavior, and emotional wellness.
Monday through Thursday children are provided with homework and reading assistance, character development lessons, physical/team building activities, extra-curricular activities, as well as an after-school snack and family-style dinner. Each student is also paired with a personal mentor.
A summer program is also offered and provides children with academic support, swim lessons, enrichment activities, breakfast and lunch.
The AmeriCorps member will help pick up students from school, provide homework assistance, lead gym time activities, and lead the class through all aspects of their time at Epoch.
Ideal candidates will be available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 2:00pm-7:00pm during the school year and available Monday – Thursday, 8:30 am – 1 pm during the summer.
Requirements for applicants include the following:
- Have a strong interest in serving the community
- Be able to relate to diverse populations
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Able to provide copy of either high school diploma, GED, or college transcript
- Have reliable transportation
- Be available to attend the free, AmeriCorps class at SU alternate Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., during the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Must successfully pass a comprehensive Criminal History Check, which includes FBI fingerprinting
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident alien
- Applicants DO NOT need to be college students, anyone from the community who fits the above requirements may participate.

- A bi-weekly stipend of $562
- An education award of $3,697 for future educational expenses or repayment of federal student loans - members who are age 55 or older may gift their ed. award to a child or grandchild
- Federal student loan forbearance while in service, with exemption from paying interest accrued during that time
- 8 tuition-free credits at Salisbury University for completion of training course
- Access to AmeriCorps Alumni Network
The member will begin on or after August 15th, 2026 and must complete 900 hours by August 14th, 2027.
This position is offered through a partnership with ShoreCorps, the AmeriCorps program at Salisbury University. It is contingent upon federal funding and approval of the AmeriCorps office.
